Basketball on the Edge – Teaching Young Athletes The Life Skill Of Looking Others In The Eye

This is the sixth installment of the video series that I filmed for the Positive Coaching Alliance as part of PCA’s Conversation with the Cavs Event.  In the video you’ll hear me talk about why it is important for a young player to look a coach or adult in the eye when they are speaking.  This is a skill that many kids are lacking in today’s technology based world.  It’s critical that children learn to be active listeners and acknowledge their understanding when the coach or other adult is finished speaking.  There is nothing more impressive to a coach or adult than when a young player / person looks them in the eye and responds affirmatively with a show of understanding.  As coaches and parents it our job to helps kids develop skills like these that will help them be successful on and off the court.
